Your part in Treatment You have a great deal of influence on the outcome of your treatment. We have developed a treatment plan just for you. Here are a few of the essential things you need to do to be successful in completing your treatment. Clean your teeth and braces Plaque is the sticky, white substance that collects on your teeth. It is made of bacteria, food and saliva. If left on your teeth and braces, it can cause swollen gums, bad breath, permanent marks on your teeth, and decay. Proper brushing and daily flossing will take just a little extra time and effort, but it is important. Be gentle with your braces Staying away from certain foods is necessary so that you do not break brackets or bend wires. Breakage can prolong treatment time. Keep your appointments After initial appliance placement, appointments are scheduled at regular intervals. Proper adjustment places pressure which produces continued tooth movement. If appointments are missed or rescheduled frequently, treatment time will almost certainly be extended. Report broken or damaged appliances immediately Contact us so that we can either see you right away or schedule you for the appropriate amount of time to repair your braces at your next appointment. Follow all doctor directions Any directions given to you by Dr. Brad are meant to make your treatment more efficient. Whether you are asked to wear rubber bands or to clean your teeth a certain way, please follow all instructions.
